POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Government and Scenic Hudson are planning to develop an urban trail system on 2.5 acres of CSX rail line property in the City and Town of Poughkeepsie.

Once approved by the county legislature and developed, the trail would connect with the other linear trails in Dutchess, said County Executive Marcus Molinaro.

“This is an expansion of the Dutchess Rail Trail, the Walkway, the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, and these linear parks – these rail trails are transformative. They connect people, they connect communities. In so many ways, they help to define our sense of place and we are very excited to have this expansion now in establishing what ultimately will be an urban trail network connecting to the very successful Dutchess rail trail network.”

Molinaro said the total cost of developing the trail is anticipated to be about $4.5 million.
