Residents safely escape burning Monticello building

MONTICELLO – The Monticello Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 384 Broadway in the Village of Monticello shortly before 10:30 this morning.

The three-story multiple residence structure on the corner of Broadway and Pleasant Street, is across Pleasant Street from the Monticello Village Complex. The fire was initially reported to Sullivan 911 by Monticello Police Officers who saw flames coming from a third-floor window.

Several occupants of the building were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported. Displaced occupants were assisted by Sullivan County Red Cross.

Monticello Fire was assisted by Mobilemedic EMS, Sullivan County Fire Investigators, Monticello Police Department and Village of Monticello Code Enforcement. Rock Hill Firefighters were on standby in Monticello’s Station.

All units were back in service at 12:36 PM
