Two caught with crack, pot in Sullivan

MONTICELLO – For the past five months, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Gang Intelligence and Narcotics Unit has been investigating the sale of crack cocaine in the greater Monticello area. Deputies eventually tracked the dealers to a location at 22 Cottage Street in the village, where they executed a search warrant around 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24.

At the location deputies recovered approximately three grams of crack cocaine, packaging material and some marijuana.

Arrested were Desiree “Dez” White, 19, and Bashir “Bash” Diallo, 23, who lived at that location.

Both were each charged with felony criminal possession of a narcotic drugs with intent to sell, the misdemeanors of criminal use of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a minor as well as unlawful possession of marijuana. They were arraigned before Town of Forestburgh Judge Maryjean Carroll who set bail at $25,000 for White and $15,000 for Diallo.

They were committed to the Sullivan County Jail pending a May 30th court appearance in the Village of Monticello.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Monticello Police and their K9 unit and Homeland Security Investigations. The search warrant was prepared by Chief Assistant District Attorney Meagan Galligan.
