NEWBURGH – Joseph Donat, who has been serving as interim Newburgh City manager since Michael Ciaravino resigned last year, will be appointed city manager when the city council meets in special session this evening.

Donat

Donat, who was the regional director of Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney’s office in Newburgh, took a leave of absence to be acting manager and since then, mayor and council have had nothing but rave reviews.

The city had conducted a nationwide search for a new manager with about a dozen semi-finalists. That was shortlisted to six.

The council has set a special meeting at 5:30 this afternoon with one item on the agenda, that being Donat’s appointment.
