BREWSTER – Dozens of people were out early along the Putnam County Bike Trail in the Town of Southeast on Saturday to participate in the Six Kilometer Run/Walk for Clean Water.
The event was sponsored by the First Baptist Church in Brewster with all funds collected forwarded to World Vision whose mission is to “change a life by bringing life-changing clean water and fullness of life to children in communities around the world.”
Pastor Travis Mitchell thanked those participating for “walking, running or pushing a stroller at the World Vision Global 6K. Each of you has provided lasting drinking water to a child.”
The pastor explained “four miles or six kilometers is the average distance a child in a far off land must walk daily to get water – most of which is dirty. Our hope is that by walking or running in the World Vision 6K, that child will no longer have to walk for water.”
