MONROE – The Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation named Sandy Oxford as its new executive director. She replaces Beth Soto who becomes the Democratic Dutchess County elections commissioner in the new year.
Oxford, who is no stranger to the union movement, said the future of
unions is dependent upon new blood.
“We need to develop leadership and when we talk of diversity we
are not just talking about ethnicity, we also have to look at the issue
of age and developing younger leaders and new leaders to take their rightful
place in leadership as well,” she said.
Oxford previously served as a vice president of the organization.
