Latimer signs the 2019 budget

WHITE PLAINS – The 2019 Westchester County budget was approved by the board of legislators and signed into law by County Executive George Latimer on Monday.
The $1.94 billion spending plan includes a two percent property tax increase. That is below the state tax cap.
It was approved by the Board of Legislators on a 13-4 vote with the three Republicans and one Conservative opposed.
Latimer said the budget comes from realities that must be faced.
“We sit down and work with numbers,” the county exec said. “Behind numbers, behind tax rates, are human beings and services that are essential in our society.”
Board of Legislators’ Chairman Benjamin Boykin said the spending plan “begins the process of stabilizing our finances and lays the groundwork for a brighter financial future for Westchester County.”
