Halahan greets business leaders

NEW WINDSOR – The Orange County Partnership boasted “the largest crowd we’ve ever had” on Tuesday as investors and entrepreneurs from all around the state gathered at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor for the organization’s annual networking event.
The session was a showcase of new developers and business opportunities headed to the region, with companies like Matrix Developers and Blue Water Partners announcing their plans to expand into Orange County.
The massive turnout “is reflective of an amazing economy right now,” said Partnership President Maureen Halahan.
“These new developers really want to invest in Orange County because they believe that the location is great place to invest, and also the cost,” Halahan said. “We are a little less expansive but we are also very close to the New York metro, so we are a perfect location. We have the workforce available for their needs and we have the property here.”
The event also served as a retirement party for State Senators John Bonacic and William Larkin, Jr. Both were honored as “champions of economic development and bringing in new business.”
Both are retiring this year after decades in public office and were given a special tribute for the dedicated service and their contributions to expanding Orange County’s economy.
