MIDDLETOWN – The deaths of four homeless people who were staying in a vacant, boarded up house in the City of Poughkeepsie raised concerns in Middletown. Mayor Joseph DeStefano said his city keeps tabs on such buildings.
Alderman Jerry Kleiner raised the question to DeStefano at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
“We do check properties on a regular basis, but the most important thing is for neighbors to call if they see a property occupied, if they see people going in and out of buildings,” DeStefano said.
The investigation into the tragic Poughkeepsie fire is continuing.
