Serino squeaks to victory over Smythe

POUGHKEEPSIE – State Senator Susan Serino was officially declared
the winner in her re-election bid. Following the counting of absentee
and affidavit ballots, the Republican Serino defeated Democrat Karen Smythe
by 695 votes out of 118,000 ballots cast.     

The State Board of Elections announced the final tally on Monday.
“Having spent the past year meeting people in the 41st District,
I am more committed than ever to remain engaged in the community and advocate
for real, positive change,” said Smythe.
“or me, this has always been about the people of our community,
and ensuring that they have a strong, independent voice in Albany. Together,
I know that we can continue to move our community forward,” Serino
said.
