Metro-North bans alcohol on trains during SantaCon

NEW YORK – There will be no consuming of alcoholic beverages by Santas or anyone else riding Metro-North trainings this coming weekend as SantaCon is held in the Big Apple.
The policy, which has been in effect for the past five years, will be from noon on Saturday, December 8 through noon on Sunday, December 9 and is aimed at maintaining safe and orderly travel during the event.
MTA police officers will be on duty at Grand Central Terminal and stations
throughout the region as well as on trains to enforce the restriction.
Police will confiscate alcoholic beverages and issue summonses carrying
fines or imprisonment and violators may also be subject to removal from
the train or station by police.
The same policy will be in effect on the Long Island Rail Road.
