TOWN OF WALLKILL – The
Town of Wallkill has received two grants totaling $5 million through the
state’s Water Infrastructure Improvement Act and Intermunicipal
Grant Program.

Just under $3 million will fund improvements at the town’s wastewater
treatment plant at 52 Golf Links Road. Built in 1989, the plant treats
four million gallons per day. Improvements will be made to the return
activated sludge pumps and the clarifiers due to their age and use.

Just over $2 million will be used to fund sewage pump station and sewer
infrastructure improvements in Washington Heights, Scotchtown and Mechanicstown
neighborhoods.

“These grant monies will allow the town to continue to maintain
and improve its water and sewer infrastructure, which has been the backbone
of economic development in our town over the past 30 years,” said
Town Public Works Commissioner Louis Ingrassia, Jr.
