TOWN OF WALLKILL – Police were faced with what was first reported as a hostage situation in a three-family residence at 327 East Main Street in the Town of Wallkill Sunday night.
The call came in just after 7:30 p.m. with a report of a domestic incident that turned into the situation, said Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman.
“Officers from the Town of Wallkill Police Department responded to a residence at 327 East Main Street for a report of a man being held hostage at gunpoint,” the chief said. “The investigation into the incident is still ongoing and there are several people in custody.”
Hertman said investigation determined the report of an armed hostage situation was unfounded.
Wallkill Police were assisted by State and Middletown City Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
