TOWN OF WALLKILL – Surgeries
are to resume on Monday after a weekend of sterilizations and investigation
into the cause of a mechanical sterilization issue at Orange Regional
Medical Center.

Since Friday, surgeries have been cancelled at the Town of Wallkill hospital.

“We are making headway in determining the cause of the sterilizer
issue,” ORMC spokesman Rob Lee said Sunday. “Simultaneously,
the Central Sterilization team along with surgery staff are doing a tremendous
job preparing trays for Monday’s surgeries.”

Patients have been contacted regarding the resumed schedule for Monday
and when they are to report as per normal procedure.

The hospital remains prepared to perform emergency surgery on already
admitted inpatients,” Lee said, but the hospital remains in a “divert”
status.
