WHITE PLAINS – A Katonah man was sentenced in White Plains federal court on Friday to over 32 years behind bars for enticing a 14-year-old girl via Instagram to engage in sexual conduct and for engaging in the criminal conduct while he was a registered sex offender.
Federal authorities said David Ohnmacht, 37, manipulated the girl into taking sexually-explicit photos of herself and sending them to him online.
He pled guilty to the charges in May.
In August 2003, Ohnmacht was convicted in Westchester County Court of several sexual abuse and sexual assault charges including sexual abuse, possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child under the age of 16, rape, use of a child under the age of 17 in a sexual performance, and sexual abuse.
After serving about nine years in prison, Ohnmacht was released on November 1, 2011 and began a five-year term of post-release supervision.
From November 2016 through February 2017, he communicated online with a 14-year-old girl using two Instagram accounts. He purported to be a 19-year-old man on one account and a teenage girl on the other.
He manipulated the child into taking and transmitting sexually-explicit photos to him and threatened to expose her for sending images to her friends on Instagram
In addition to the prison term, Ohnmacht was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release.
