Degaldo, right, listens as Biden speaks to the full house

KINGSTON – A rally held Friday in Kingston for Congressional candidate
Antonio Delgado brought a number of fellow Democrats urging voters to
participate in the Blue Wave this November. Top on the list of speakers
was former Vice president Joseph Biden.

“This election is about a lot more than politics,” Biden told
the large crowd, over a thousand strong. It was the biggest turnout ever
for the Senate House Garage venue in Uptown Kingston. Biden noted there
has not been an election like this one since he became a senator in Delaware
in 1972.

“This is about the character of the nation; it’s about who
we are as a nation. America is an idea. We’re the only nation in
the world organized around ideals. Sounds corny; that is something we’ve
never given upon.” He defined the country in one word: “Possibilities.”

Biden related his common humble upbringing with Delgado, lower middle
class origins. He took the Trump administration to task, on issues such
as universal health care, which he said is being decimated for the sake
of Republican tax cuts. He also criticized incumbent Congressman John
Faso, who Delgado is challenging.

Biden also remarked about the recent mail bombing campaign that made headlines
this week, urging both sides of the aisle to tone down their rhetoric
and squelch the hatred.

“We are in a battle for the soul of America,” Biden maintained.
He added that Delgado is a candidate of character, something America has
been seeking this election cycle – which is why Biden came to Kingston
to advocate for his candidacy.

“I’m tired of Democrats saying ‘woe is me.’ It’s
time to stand up dammit; there is nothing we are not capable of, but we
have to come together,” Biden said to the cheering supporters.
