Scenic Route 17B, near the Woodstock site

BETHEL – It is now law. Route 17B in Sullivan County has been designated as The Woodstock Way as the governor signed legislation sponsored by Senator John Bonacic.
The summer of 2019 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair that was held in Bethel on August 15 through 17, 1969. It drew a half-million people and became an iconic moment for a generation of Americans.
The site is now home to the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Route 17B is the most direct access to the site.
“As the 50th anniversary of Woodstock approaches, it is only fitting to designate the route to the festival site in this way,” said Bonacic. “I am excited for the festivities that are being planned for next year and this designation will welcome a new generation of tourists coming to the Catskills.”
