WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon man who held up a barbershop at gunpoint back on October 7, 2017, was sentenced in Westchester County Court to 10 years in state prison.
Ronald Jones, 31, pled guilty to three counts of armed robbery and one count of criminal possession of a weapon, all as felonies.
Jones had entered the shop armed with a loaded handgun and robbed three employees. At the time of the incident, two clients in the shop were young boys. A patron grabbed Jones from behind and with the help of employees, Jones was wrestled to the floor and the gun was recovered. The men held Jones down until Mount Vernon Police responded.
In an unrelated case stemming from a checkpoint traffic stop on September 2, 2017 in Mount Vernon, Jones pled guilty to driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both felonies. On each of those counts, he received sentences of one year of incarceration along with fines and a revoked license. Those sentenced will run concurrently.
