Val-Kill Medal winners announced

HYDE PARK – The Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill has announced the names of this year’s recipients of the Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill Medal.
Hailed as the highest honor given in remembrance of the “First Lady of the World,” the medal, presented annually at the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill, honors individuals and organizations that reflect her desire to build a better world through humanitarian and human rights efforts.
This year’s recipients are Tarana Burke, founder of the Me Too
Movement, Dutchess Community College President Dr. Pamela Edington; Safe
Hands for Girls founder and 2018 Nobel Peace Prize nominee Jaha Duhureh;
civil rights activist and attorney Roberta (Robbie) Kaplan; former State
Supreme Court Justice Albert Rosenblatt; and author and screenwriter Loung
Ung.
“Each one of this year’s medalists has set a standard for leadership through compassion for others in their relentless pursuits for action against the injustices so prevalent in our local communities and in communities around the world,” said Eleanor Roosevelt Center Executive Director April Gozza. “Receiving this award is a true testament to Eleanor Roosevelt’s vision to build a more just and sustainable world.”
