BLOOMING GROVE – An Orange County area woman is okay after a harrowing experience when her car skidded off Tuthill Road in the Town of Blooming Grove early Friday afternoon and crashed into the raging waters of Cromline Creek. A light drizzle was coming down at the time.
Washingtonville Fire Chief Gary Hearn said she was able to climb through a window and onto the roof of vehicle. She was spotted by passersby who called 911.
Firefighters from several area departments responded.  Two first responders walked out on an extended ladder suspended over the water, assisting the woman off the rooftop and to safety. It took some 45 minutes to climb out of the water and rescue her.
Hearn said aside from being wet, the woman was okay.
