GOSHEN – Two Orange County
sheriff’s deputies died suddenly last week, the sheriff’s
office reported on Wednesday.

Officer Alecks Elia and Lt. Frank Maiorino both passed away.

Elia served in the Marines in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi
Freedom and in Afghanistan.

He was with the sheriff’s office for just over 11 years and volunteered
at the New Windsor Ambulance Corps.

He is survived by his wife Emelia, two daughters, Kristine and Nicole,
and his brother Ernest.

Mairino served county residents for over 20 years, working his way up
from corrections officer to most recently being promoted to the rank of
lieutenant. He is survived by his wife, Kristine, daughter Francesca,
his mother Valerie, his brother Anthony and wife Alicia, and sister, Dana
and her husband, Joe.

“As we at the sheriff’s office mourn the loss of two of our
own, we are thinking of the families of these men and wish them peace
and comfort as they face the days ahead with loving memories to forever
hold in their hearts,” said Sheriff Carl DuBois.
