FORESTBURGH – Sullivan County Government has begun the process of upgrading bridges in the county with $10 million in funding set aside by the county legislature.
County and local officials announced the upgrade launch on Friday while at county bridge #82, which carries County Route 49 (Oakland Valley Road) in Forestburgh over the Neversink River in Oakland Valley in the Town of Forestburgh.

Deputy County Manager Daniel Depew noted four bridges have been earmarked for attention initially.
“We’ve done the design work and we’ve done everything where we can put that out for work. One of the bridges is going to be going out next week and the other three are going to go out within a month after that, for bid, so we are excited about that,” Depew said.
County Legislature Vice Chairwoman Nadia Rajsz said the safety of motorist
is “paramount. At the same time, we’re accomplishing this
without hiking taxes for our property owners.”
