Fatal car crash in Somers

SOMERS – A one-car crash on Route 116 in the Town of Somers on Tuesday claimed the life of the lone occupant in the vehicle.
State Police said William Jackson, 63, of Mount Vernon died at the scene. He was westbound on Route 116 when he lost control, the car left the road and struck a concrete wall before overturning. Somers firefighters had to extricate him from the vehicle.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
State Police were assisted by the Somers Fire Department, Westchester EMS, Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office and the Troop K State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
