BEACON – The old Beacon
city landfill has been converted into a solar farm that is producing 2,766-kilowatts
of power.
Mayor Randy Casale said the project built by Sunlight Beacon, a subsidiary of BQ Energy, will produce a number of benefits.
“It will reduce the carbon footprint in the City of Beacon by using green energy and the city will save over $100,000 a year for the next 25 years by having the solar farm,” the mayor said. “It will reduce our electric bills that we pay now.”
Casale said it will produce enough electricity to power 160 homes.
The farm is privately owned by Sunlight Beacon.
