Poughkeepsie man arrested after crashing into parked cars and house

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man has been charged with DWI, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, unlawful possession of marijuana and several vehicle and traffic law violations after his vehicle crashed into a house on East Cedar Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Friday.
State troopers observed a car speeding north on Route 9 and saw the operator lose control, strike several cars and crash into the house.
The driver, Benjamin Cruz, 26, was found to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol without a required interlock device. Investigators also found some 12.5 grams of marijuana in his vehicle.
Cruz was treated for minor injuries at MidHudson Regional Hospital and issued tickets returnable to town court.
