WHITE PLAINS – State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the Democrat minority leader in the house, has been endorsed by the Hispanic Democrats of Westchester County.
Stewart-Cousins faces a party primary challenge next month from County Legislator Virginia Perez, a native of the Dominican Republic.
“Senator Stewart-Cousins has always been a friend and champion of causes that benefit the Hispanic community,” said Hispanic Democrats group Co-Chair Robin Bikkal. “From her establishment of the County Human Rights Commission to standing up against Donald Trump and his inhumane immigration policies, to her leadership in passing the toughest gun laws n the nation and raising the minimum wage, Senator Stewart-Cousins has proven herself an inclusive leader we can depend on.”
Stewart-Cousins represents all of Greenburgh and Scarsdale and parts of the cities of Yonkers, White Plains and New Rochelle.
