MONTICELLO – A Monticello man has been charged with burglary, criminal
mischief and resisting arrest for breaking into an apartment on Shaker
Heights Drive in the village.

A witness reported seeing a man, later identified as Kannon Palmer, 25,
climb up a balcony at the apartment complex and force his way into a residence
by forcing his way through a sliding door.

The tenant, who was at work, came home and let officers in through the
front door.

Monticello Police with assistance from State Police searched the apartment
and found Palmer hiding under a mattress. He was pulled out by Monticello
K-9 DECA and taken into custody.

Palmer was also wanted by Monticello Police on two separate arrest warrants,
one for failing to appear in court on a DWI charge and another on charges
of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal obstruction of breathing
or blood circulation and harassment as a result of a domestic dispute.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $25,000
cash bail or $50,000 bond.
