Fatal accident triggers large fight in City of Newburgh

NEWBURGH – Police from the towns of Newburgh and New Windsor and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office were called into the City of Newburgh for a large fight that took place in the Lander Street area.
A 25-year-old motorcyclist was struck and killed on South William Street
in front of the Newburgh Unity Armory. The accident occurred around 7:50
p.m. resulting in a large crowd to form.
Police were also called to the area of St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital to handle crowd control.
City Police are investigating.
Within an hour, the incidents were “defused,” said Newburgh Police Chief Douglas Solomon.
