Private sector jobs grow by 12,500 in 12 months ending in July

ALBANY – Sullivan County
remained the leader in job growth in the 12 months ending in July, the
state labor department reported Thursday.
Ulster County, with 2.4 percent came the closest to Sullivan County’s
9.1 percent increase.

The Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro area saw 1.3 percent job growth
while the Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division and Columbia County each
grew by 1.1 percent.

Greene County had no job growth.

Year over year, job gains were largest in educational and health services;
professional and business services; leisure and hospitality; natural resources,
mining, and construction; and other services.

Losses were centered in trade, transportation and utilities; and manufacturing.
