‘Mr. Lego’ will be on hand to greet everyone when the Goshen park
opens in 2020

GOSHEN – Legoland New York opened its site for the first time Thursday
to journalists and local business leaders.

The visit showed off the approximately 500 acre site, 150 acres of which
will become Legoland New York and its accompanying hotel.

A Lego brick model showed off the finished amusement park and its attractions,
many of which being exclusive to the New York site.

Legoland New York will not only be the largest Legoland in the country,
compared to Legoland Florida and Legoland California; but, the largest
of their nine locations across the globe including Dubai, Japan, Denmark,
Germany, UK and Malaysia.

New York Public Relations Manager Matthew Besterman said they looked at
their sister parks in Florida and California when planning this one.

We’re really taking the best of all of those sites and upping our
game for this one, so what you’re going to see here is the biggest
and best Legoland that we’ve built,” he said.

According to Legoland Director of Development Phil Royle, the park and
hotel will create approximately 1,300 jobs.

The local business community has continued to show their support for the
project and the promise of providing an economic boost to the region.
Royle said they are moving full-force toward completion and couldn’t
even afford one day off of construction.

“We are moving. Construction is undergoing; you can see all of the
equipment moving in the background. We didn’t even stop construction
for today’s announcement. We carried on,” said Royle. “We
are still carrying on,” he said.

The park and hotel are slated to open simultaneously in spring 2020.
