Traffic stop yields coke, pot, two suspects

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A traffic stop on the Thruway in the Town of Newburgh has resulted in the arrests of two Mount Vernon men on drug possession charges.
Troopers stopped a car late Friday night, August 10 and determined probable cause to search the vehicle and its occupants. Police found approximately three grams of cocaine and 28 grams of marijuana.
Andre Dasilva, 21, and Melvin Sanchez, 19, were both charged with two felony counts of possession of drugs for the cocaine and Dasilva was charged with two counts of misdemeanor criminal possession of marijuana.           
Both men were sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
