KINGSTON – Liberty Village resident Leoneudi Agueda, 24, was sentenced in Ulster County Court to seven years in state prison and 10 years of post-release supervision on his conviction to the violent felony crime of criminal sexual act.
Agueda was arrested on June 15, 2017 following an investigation by State Police in the Ellenville barracks.
The sexual act was with a 12-year-old child and occurred in a parking area off Route 52 in the Town of Wawarsing. He also faces misdemeanor charges in Sullivan County.
Agueda was also charged by the Ulster DA’s office on February 6 with two counts of bribing a witness for offering money to two witnesses in exchange for their altered testimony in the case. He had been released on bond when the additional crimes took place.
“There were two underaged witnesses, purportedly friends of the victim, who clearly lied to us and the grand jury,” said Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright. “We learned that the defendant had bribed them to alter their testimony.”
Agueda, who was sentenced on Friday, must also register as a sex offender for a minimum of 20 years. An order of protection was issued in favor of the child to remain in effect until 2033.
