SAUGERTIES – A Kingston man is in the Ulster County Jail without bail after he allegedly went to his ex-girlfriend’s home in Saugerties while armed with a knife and harassed her.
Saugerties Police said Derek McGraw, 38, allegedly broke into the woman’s residence through a second floor window earlier in the day on Tuesday, July 24 and stole her cell phone so she could not call for help when he planned to return and physically assault her.
Police were called to 3017 Route 32 in the Town of Saugerties for a 911 call at 9:17 that day for a report of McGraw being armed with a knife, involved in a dispute and had assaulted the woman. He was charged with felony burglary, misdemeanor attempted assault and criminal mischief, and a violation of harassment.
Saugerties Town Justice Court issued an order of protection on behalf of the victim.
State Police assisted in the investigation.
