NORTH CASTLE – A 69-year-old
Brewster woman was killed when the vehicle in which she was a passenger
was rear-ended by a box truck early Saturday.

State Police from the Somers barracks said Joseph Piscopo, Jr., 47, also
of Brewster, was driving a 2001 GMC Denali on Interstate 684 in the Town
of New Castle around 1 a.m. with Maria Piscopo, and as he attempted to
pull onto the shoulder of the highway, his vehicle was struck from behind
by a 2012 Izuzu box truck driven by Saed Alkasaji, 43, of Danbury, Connecticut.

All three were transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla by
ambulance, where Maria Piscopo later died.

The investigation is continuing.
