Poughkeepsie man arrested on Ulster warrant

POUGHKEEPSIE – Police
arrested a Poughkeepsie man in that city on charges for which he was wanted
in Ulster County.

Peter Wenzel, 37, was arrested on Friday evening, July 20, by members
of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team and the Narcotics
Unit of Poughkeepsie City Police.

He was wanted for heroin sales in the Town of Esopus and surrounding areas.

Wenzel was located hiding on a fire escape balcony when police were searching
for him in an apartment complex. He attempted to break into a nearly apartment
to escape from officers, but was quickly taken into custody.

He was found in possession of heroin and fentanyl.

Police charged Wenzel on an Esopus Justice Court warrant with criminal
sale and possession of a controlled substance and additional charges are
expected to be filed in Poughkeepsie stemming from his arrest.

He was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail
or $50,000 bond.
