TOWN OF CAIRO – A Catskill man died Saturday afternoon with the motorcycle he was operating was struck by a car.
State Police said Kevin Sweeney, 55, was ejected from his motorcycle and was transported to a medical helicopter, but succumbed to his injuries before he was loaded into the aircraft.
The accident occurred at 1:45 p.m. when a car driven by Christine Cepale, 79, from Windham was eastbound on Lincoln Drive and crossed State Route 145 directly into the path of Sweeney’s motorcycle. The cycle struck the car in the front passenger side.
Cepale and her husband, Robert Cepale, 85, were treated and released for minor injuries at an area hospital.
The investigation is ongoing. State Police were assisted at the scene by Cairo Police, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Cairo Fire Department and Cairo Ambulance.
