NEW YORK – Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney filed petition signatures on Thursday in his race for New York attorney general.
The House member, who represents portions of the Mid-Hudson Valley, is
also seeking re-election to Congress. Maloney is one of a handful of Democrats
seeking that party’s line for attorney general on the November ballot.
If he wins the primary election in September, he will step aside in the
race for Congress and party leaders in the 18th District will select a
new candidate.
Should Maloney lose the primary, he will remain on the ballot as a House member.
On Thursday, he submitted petitions with 39,413 signatures in his attorney general bid. “Tens of thousands of New Yorkers from all over the state know that I’ll have their back as the next AG – I’m the only person in this face that has the experience to do that.”
Maloney also announced his campaign staff on Thursday along with 16 members of a steering committee.
