NEWBURGH – The Newburgh City Council voted Thursday evening to spend $420,000 for ADA curb rehabilitation in the northeast section of the city. The council selected A-Tech Concrete Company for the work.
The council also got word from the State Department of Transportation that it would repave Route 9W from the New Windsor town line to Broadway.
Both projects will play a role in the growth of the city, said Mayor Torrance Harvey.
“Those are two very important resolutions because we know to continue the revitalization of the City of Newburgh we want to work on this infrastructure, mainly our road repavement, which last year, none of the roads got paved at all because it was too expensive for the city to do the sidewalks, which are mandated by the federal government according to the Americans with Disabilities Act,” Harvey said.
Once the sidewalks and ADA-compliant curbs have been installed, the city public works crews will go to work repaving the streets.
