Four Hudson antique dealers charged with illegal ivory sales

HUDSON – Four antique store owners were charged on Tuesday with felonies in the illegal sale of ivory.
Close to 100 items were recovered during a search of four operations, with a total retail value of over $15,000. Items seized included carvings made from elephant ivory, an article made from elephant hide, a saw tooth fish rostrum, a crocodilian head, and a large sea turtle carapace.
Search warrants were executed at four City of Hudson stores – Kazarian Antiques at 602 Warren Street; NAGA Antiques at 536 Warren Street; White Wale Limited at 410 Warren Street; and The warehouse at 99 3rd Street.
Richard Kazarian, Jim Marinaccio, Joseph Ribar and Lauren Guion were arraigned in Hudson City Court and charged with the felony of illegal commercialization of wildlife.
It is illegal to sell or attempt to sell products made in whole, or in part, from endangered and/or threatened species in New York State without obtaining a license to do so by the Department of Environmental Conservation.
