EAST FISHKILL – For the last time as East Fishkill Town Police,
Kevin Keefe, walked past his officers as they saluted. Keefe retired on
Wednesday, after a 34-year career in law enforcement.
Keefe rose through the ranks of the East Fishkill department before being
named top cop several years ago.
In his farewell to his fellow officers, Keefe thanked them for their service.
“Anything you did made me look good and I hope I did the same by
you. I tried to keep the public relations up and make the department as
a whole look good and I want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.
It has been a good ride,, 34 years, I can’t complain. I don’t
think I would change a day of it.”
Lt. Matthew Orsino has been appointed interim police chief and it is
expected the town board will approve him permanently at their July session.
As Keefe’s last official act, he keyed the microphone on his police
radio and said, “10-7, out for retirement.”
