Crews began taking down the damaged structures on Tuesday

POUGHKEEPSIE – A demolition crew was onsite on Academy Street in Poughkeepsie one day after strong wind toppled three floors of a vacant building onto another, trapping two people.
The male victim was removed relatively quickly while a female victim, Tanya Hargrove, 43, was trapped under five to six feet of debris. It took 4 ½ hours of work by emergency responders to free her. She is currently in MidHudson Regional Hospital recuperating where she told Channel 2 News, “I knew God wasn’t ready for me.”
Several first responder organizations were on the scene throughout the rescue ordeal on Monday late afternoon into nighttime.
