POUGHKEEPSIE – Fire that started on a back porch spread to two
apartments at 5 and 6 Eastman Terrace in the City of Poughkeepsie late
Sunday morning.

Eighteen residents escaped from the burning structure.

City Fire Chief Mark Johnson said at the scene that the 10-apartment unit
building connected horizontally.

The fire spread from the porch into the two apartments. All residents
and pets were evacuated uninjured, he said.
The cause of the two-alarm fire is under investigation.
