City of Newburgh has highest municipal unemployment rate in region

ALBANY – The rate of joblessness in the City of Newburgh, at 5.9 percent, was the highest in the Hudson Valley region in April, according to the State Labor Department.
The region-wide rate of unemployment was 4.2 percent.

The City of Mount Vernon was recorded with the second highest rate, at 5.6 percent.
The Town of Haverstraw, with 5.4 percent joblessness, was the third highest rate.
The City of Poughkeepsie, at 5.2 percent, was fourth highest.
The City of Middletown, with 4.9 percent unemployment, was ranked fifth highest.
The cities of New Rochelle and Yonkers each had 4.8 percent unemployment, ranking them each at sixth.
The labor department ranked Sullivan County joblessness in total at 4.7 percent.
The Village of Port Chester, with 3.3 percent unemployment, had the lowest rate in April.
The Town of Rye had the second lowest rate at 3.4 percent.
The City of White Plains was ranked third lowest at 3.5 percent.
