NEW ROCHELLE – The 95-year-old Fire Station 2 in the City of New Rochelle is undergoing a major overhaul, the first since the 1980s.
Built in 1923, the station needs a major overhaul to accommodate modern firefighting equipment. Extensive repairs will be performed inside and out in the one-year project.
During the work, Ladder 12 and Engine 22 have been relocated to nearby stations with response time expected to remain similar.
“When finished, these repairs and upgrades will enable our personnel to deliver fire department services more quickly and efficiently,” said Fire Chief Louis DiMeglio.
“Thanks to our expanded capital budget, we can undertake infrastructure improvement projects like this that are so desperately needed,” said City Manager Chuck Strome. “We will work hard to maintain the best service levels for the duration of repairs.”
