GOSHEN – The Orange County Partnership’s Director of Retention and Expansion, Amanda Dana, has been named as the new tourism director for Orange County Government and William Fioravanti, the Partnership’s Director of Business Attraction has been named county economic development coordinator.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus announced both appointments on Thursday.
“They are both familiar with the county; they know all the players so they are ready to start the first day they come to work for the county and start doing some major things to make improvements in economic development and tourism,” Neuhaus said.
Partnership President Maureen Halahan said both individuals fit the bill for the tasks at hand.
“To have non-political, non-government business people in those two key positions is just a great fit,” Halahan said.
Fioravanti, a resident of the City of Newburgh, “has vast and impressive experience in business, community and economic development and I know that he will be an asset to Orange County,” Neuhaus said.
Dana, a Town of Wallkill resident, has more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience.
Halahan noted that both continue the long list of alumni who have gone on to assume high-level positions “to further promote progress in our economy and the quality of life for our residents.”
Meghan Taylor, currently the Mid-Hudson regional director of the state’s Empire State Corporation; Michael Torelli, director of business development at Stewart International Airport; and John Lavelle, a prominent commercial real estate broker and site selector, all came from the Partnership.
Two of its former marketing directors, Nancy Proyect and Andrew Komonchak, are also key county players. Proyect is president of the Orange County Citizens Foundation and Komonchak is a leader in the development of the Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor.
