POUGHKEEPSIE – Residents in the Poughkeepsie City School District approved the $138.7 million 2024-25 budget proposal Tuesday.

“I am elated that the community approved the Poughkeepsie City School District’s budget. The community’s support of Poughkeepsie’s future citizens and leaders is remarkable. Together, school, home and community, we look forward to working on behalf of our children in the coming year,” said Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, superintendent of schools.

Voters approved Kelleyann Royce-Giron and incumbent Fatimah Carmen Martinez Santiago to fill two open seats on the Board of Education.

The Board of Education will vote on ratifying the preliminary vote results at its meeting Wednesday.

The budget, which passed 314 votes to 120, represents a two percent increase over the current year’s budget. Its tax levy of 3.25 percent is less than half the state-mandated limit of 7.01 percent.
