Port Ewen man accused of stealing tip jar, offering box

KINGSTON – A Port Ewen man, wanted for questioning in connection with the theft of a tip jar from an Uptown business and an offering box from a church on Wall Street in Kingston, was arrested by city police on Wednesday.
Detectives spotted Jonathan Mead, 27, near Sawkill Road and Washington
Avenue. Mead fled but was apprehended a short time later and charged with
burglary, petit larceny, obstructing governmental administration and resisting
arrest. He was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash
bail or $20,000 bond.
