STEWART AIRPORT – A solar carport, capable of generating electricity, may be in the works for part of the parking lot at the Stewart Airport terminal.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is considering construction of a solar port of about 450 spaces, said Stewart Business Development Director Michael Torelli.
“We are talking about a solar carport on about one-third four existing main parking lot to help power the terminal and the extension. That will be an open solicitation for a contractor/investor who deals with solar installments.”
Torelli said it has not been decided if there would be an additional cost to park under the carport.
