WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man pled guilty in Westchester County Court to manslaughter in the August 26, 2017 car crash that claimed the life of a woman.
Renzo Yance, 22, was driving at the time of the incident that killed backseat passenger Nina Cordero, 19, and injured his front seat passenger, Cordero’s boyfriend.
Yance also pled guilty to a charge of assault.
On the evening of the crash, police found an overturned BMW on Central Park Avenue. Cordero, ejected from the vehicle further down the road, was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Yance was driving without a license at over 100 miles an hour on a city road and it was that high speed that contributed to the crash, investigators said.
Yance also pled guilty to two unrelated charges stemming from an earlier incident on August 6, 2017 in Dobbs ferry where he was driving without a license and under the influence of drugs.
When sentenced in June, he faces up to 15 years in state prison.
