NEWBURGH – Republican
Stony Point Town Councilman Thomas Basile will formally announce his candidacy
for the State Senate seat currently held by William Larkin, who announced
on Thursday that he would retire at the end of the year.
Basile had said for months that at such time as Larkin would retire, he
would run to replace the 90-year-old senior statesman.
Larkin and several other officials will join him at his formal announcement
this afternoon in Newburgh.
The 39th Senate District includes portions of Orange, Ulster and Rockland
counties.
